soleless no more

a few weeks ago, i took advice from emily at emilystyle and signed up for ryka's good for your sole shoe and t-shirt giveaway. after awhile, i got an email saying i didn't win, and i thought that was it... until today, when a pair of MC2 Run sneakers showed up at my work! they come equipped with heel crash pads, perfect for my inner klutz. thanks, ryka!

playing catch up

i know, it's been a long time since i last posted, but life's been jam-packed full of great tasting goodness! last weekend, todd and i made a quick trip to the east coast and back via virgin america. gotta say, the verdict's still out on VA. the seats were ok, but how can an airline not offer everyone pillows on a red eye? and the satellite tv left lots to be desired (hint to richard b.: it helps if the satellite tv works! otherwise, you're left ordering sprite every 30 minutes and playing some costco-type form of asteroids).

once we got back, we headed over to the treasure island music festival to see clap your hands say yeah and some other bands perform. (cyhsy is also at the independent tomorrow and wednesday!) to cap off our weekend-in-a-blur, we started watching season 1 of heroes while eating heroes! we repeated heroes squared activity this weekend, following trips to the cole valley festival and the autumn moon festival (complete with vegetarian red bean moon cake from lucky creation), to great fanfare from our tummies. i'd post pictures (of the weekends, not our stomachs), but i can't seem to find my memory card or card reader.

balancing act

so we're still in iraq, people are still talking about britney, and our mayor is trying to purge the city of any potentially non-hair-gelled leaders.... worried not that the world is coming to an end! just to show that someone has heart, i bring you a sole source notice from the feds:

"The purpose of the purchase shall be to develop multimedia program packages based on
Tai Chi Moving for Better Balance, to be disseminated nation-wide to community based senior service providers and applied in public health practice and provide train-the-trainer sessions for implementation of the program. Oregon Research Institute has the unique capability to produce this national toolkit since it is the only source for the evaluated and tested Moving for Better Balance program. "

that's right. our government may shy away at affordable health care, but even in old age, you'll still be able to wax on, wax off!

gimme less

everyone's talking about britney's disastrous performance sunday night at the vmas. and as my comeback post, well, i bring you brit brit, loaded up on frozen 'ritas and fishnets. just kidding. no, watching ms. spears the other night just had me thinking, "hey, mtv shows music videos. or at least they used to when they successfully aired music television across the globe, making my ears happy and my mom's claim on the remote dwindle. so why is the awards show the video music awards and not the music video awards?" thanks, britney, for making me realize that this was the only out-of-place thing at another year's amazingly sucky telecast.
